Your Generosity Matters

Be a Part of Making a Change

Did you know that most people don’t carry a checkbook anymore? And the ones that do actually carry cash, most often carry very little. According to the Washington Post, 50% of Americans carry $20 or less. In another study it was found that only 20% of people carry their checkbook on a regular basis. In today’s world where everthing is digital, receipts in the donation baskets are decreasing.

In response to this cultural shift, we are excited to announce that you now can give to Orange Church of God  online, right from this website.  Just click here.

Five Reasons to Consider Online Giving

Online giving doesn’t work for everyone. You need to give in the way that works for you and is most comfortable. But here are some reasons to consider making the switch:

  1. It makes pledged and committed giving easier. By setting up a recurring gift online, your offering gets to Orange Churfch of God on the date that you want it to, whether you’re out of town, home sick, or you forgot your check on the kitchen table.
  2. It’s convenient. You don’t have be sitting in the congregation to make a donation. you can activiate your donation at anytime, from anywhere.
  3. It’s green. There is no paper involved, no stamps, and no trips to the bankrequired when giving online.
  4. It helps the church plan well. The consistency of recurring gifts helps the finance committee and trustees plan expenditures better and not just guess.
  5. It’s less work. From the counting, to the recording, to the trips to the bank, traditional offerings create tasks that are not needed for online giving.

Some Common Questions

As simple as it is, some questions may still come to mind. Here are four common questions that people ask:

  1. Is online giving safe? Yes, it is very safe. Our online financial partner for processing credit cards is PayPal, a recognized and secure service provider that adheres to rigorous security standards and comprehensive independent onsite assessments on a regular basis.
  2. Are there any fees involved? No…and yes. You will not be charged a fee to donate. But to offer this service, the church is charged a small percentage of your donation total. If you wish to offset these fees, you may do so at the time of your donation by adding a little extra to it. It’s up to you.
  3. What do I do during the offering time? It feels awkward not to give in the plate. That’s a very valid point. You may feel like you’re not participating or that you’re not modeling a generous spirit. If that’s the case, feel free to put a note in the basket that says, “I gave online”.

If you are interested in learning more about our Search & Rescue Ministry please contact the church office at 409-883-8631.

What do I need to do to be baptized?

The act of baptism serves as an outward expression of the inward transformation that occurs once a person has placed their faith in Jesus Christ. It is not an act to be completed in order to receive salvation, but is the first act of obedience which visibly identifies the Christian with the Church body (Matt 28:19; Acts 2:38).

If you would like to be baptized at Orange Church of God, please visit us during one of our Sunday services and respond to the call for baptism or you may contact the church Office at 409-883-8631.

Who should give online?

Give online if you are looking for a simpler way to give. Online giving is for anyone who would like to give to the ministry of New Life Church remotely, either one-time or on a recurring basis.

Why is giving so important?

We also recognize that Jesus talked more about giving than the subjects of heaven, hell, or prayer. In Matthew 6:21 and 24 Jesus says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also…No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. In Luke 6:38 He says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

If I have more questions, with whom should I speak?

Please contact the church office at 409-883-8631 to arrange a meeting with the Director of Business Affairs for the church.

Why small groups at Orange Church of God?

Spiritual growth is most effective in the context of intentional, genuine relationships with other believers. As our world becomes increasingly interconnected through technological advances, people are increasingly becoming disconnected from other people. This is just as true in the church as it is elsewhere, and it is more critical in the church because God wills that His people live life together. Involvement in a Life Group will help Orange Church of God members enhance and cultivate their own spiritual growth and grow in godly relationships with other believers.

What do groups study?

After an introductory study that emphasizes the importance of group life and helps groups grow together, Life Groups will have flexibility to select materials that are or interest to the groups. Each Life Group Facilitator has been provided a list of pre-approved resources from which groups are free to choose.

How do I join a Life Group?

Orange Church of God members will be able to sign up for a Life Group by clicking on any of the “Join a Life Group” buttons on the Get Involved page of Orange Church of God website. Individuals will be able to select the group that is most preferable in terms of location, group type, and group demographics.

How do I become a member of Orange Church of God?

It is the belief of the Orange Church of God that all Christians should be actively involved in a local assembly so that they may commit to sharing their spiritual gifts with other believers (Heb 10:25; Eph 4:11-12).

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Orange Church of God family, please visit us during one of our Sunday services and respond to the call for new members or, access the home page of our web site (www.orangecog.org) and select quick links, and then select “Become A Member”.

We will be excited that you have chosen to serve our Savior with us, and look forward to helping you enjoy your New Life!

What is a tithe?

As Christ Followers, we believe that we are to follow God’s command regarding tithing. “Tithe” means “tenth” or 10 percent. Leviticus 27:30 says, “A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.” In Malachi 3:8-10 God speaks to His people, “Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse – the whole nation of you – because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

What are the benefits of giving online?

  • You can prioritize your giving in your budget (Proverbs 3:9,10).
  • You won’t have to worry about giving while you are away from home or on vacation.
  • You can increase your faithfulness. Online giving provides a systematic way to help us be regular and faithful.
  • Through online giving, our accounting department is able to expedite your gift and simplify our accounting procedures.
  • As all of us plan and prioritize our giving, we can lead the way for others to grow and mature in their own spiritual stewardship.

What are the different types of Life Groups?

Orange Church of God offers Life Groups for men, for women, for married couples, and groups available to individuals of any gender or marital status.

Where do Life Groups Meet?

Life Groups typically meet on the OCG campus. Although, Life Groups can meet in any place that is convenient to group members, such as restaurants, coffee shops, or parks. The location should be comfortable and have no distractions. Life Groups should meet in a location other than Orange Church of God if at all possible.

Is childcare available for Life Groups?

Many Life Groups have childcare options available. Each individual Life Group will determine how handle childcare issues. Some options include: assigning a different group member to watch children during each group meeting, collectively hiring someone near the meeting site to watch kids during the group meeting, or leaving the responsibility to individual parents to handle their own childcare needs. Orange Church of God members will be able to search for groups that provide childcare.
